  • Black Obsidian is perfect for drawing out mental stress and tension while stimulating growth of all levels, urging exploration of the unknown while opening new horizons.

People who are enthusiastic about Gua Sha all agree that the practice has two core benefits: physical and mental.

Physically, Gua Sha brightens your complexion, contours and sculps the face while softening wrinkles and fine lines. Gua Sha can also help to relieve headaches and sinus pressure. Using Gua Sha can be beneficial in reducing inflammation and puffiness and can help with the microcirculation of lymphatic drainage in the face. This is especially true for the under-eye area in the morning.

Mentally, using Gua Sha induces a state of grounding, feelings of connection with the spirit and of course, self-love towards the body. Gua Sha can be used as part of your skincare regime.

Using a Gua Sha tool is pretty straightforward. There are four basic steps to follow:

- Step one – cleanse and tone.

- Step two – apply a facial oil of your choice.

- Step three – perform Gua Sha.

- Step four – remove excess and complete the regimen.

HOW TO USE:

Holding the tool at a 30-to-45-degree angle, very gently glide the tool across your skin. As a rule, all movements should be upwards following lymphatic flow. Repeat each movement three to five times before moving to the next area of your skin.

KEY AREAS:

Jawline and Chin: Glide your Gua Sha upwards from the centre of the chin out to the earlobe to contour the jaw.

Forehead: Divide your forehead into three sections always gliding your tool outwards from the centre.

Cheeks: Start at the nose and work upwards in a sweeping motion along the cheeks and cheekbones, moving outwards toward your ears. Glide once, then move down, glide again, move down now to the centre of your chin, and glide once more time to complete.

Under the eye: Start in the inner corner of the eye, gliding the Gua Sha outwards to the temple.

Brows: Glide upwards along the brow bone moving from the inside out.

Neck: Glide the Gua Sha from the bottom of your neck, upwards to your jaw in a sweeping motion always working from the bottom up. It's best to split your neck into 4 sections. Repeat the step for each section.

Lips: Glide the tool over your lips to achieve a plumping effect.

For best results, perform Gua Sha three to four times a week for about three to five minutes at a time.
